wrote in message ... Actually, if a domain calls itself "unknown.com", it cannot possibly be up to any good ....... But that is besides the point. Jeff Have you looked at unknown.com. They say they've been in business for 10 years, and the "unknown" is trademarked. I've seen posts using that address munge, so they must have good spam filters, 'cause they need them. "Ian D" wrote in message ... "Tom Willett" wrote in message ... unknown.com is an actual, legitimate domain. If you are not employed by that company, and are using their domain to munge your email address, you are doing them a terrible disservice. wrote in message ... Thanks for the heads up. I had been using the same ficticious domain since the late 90's, and check it about once a year to make sure it hasn't become a registered domain. After seeing your post I decided to try it again, and it's now in use, using different words, but forming the same combined name. Now changed. I guess, unless you use total nonsense, it will eventually be used, maybe even then. |

And who is to know if that is true?
Wierd domain name for a business. Jeff Ian D wrote: wrote in message ... Actually, if a domain calls itself "unknown.com", it cannot possibly be up to any good ....... But that is besides the point. You've been checking since the late '90s? And you missed that it was registered in 1994? | Domain Name: unknown.com | | Created on..............: Wed, Oct 19, 1994 | Expires on..............: Sun, Oct 19, 2014 | Record last updated on..: Mon, Jun 09, 2008 After seeing your post I decided to try it again, and it's now in use, using different words, but forming the same combined name. Now changed. I guess, unless you use total nonsense, it will eventually be used, maybe even then. If a 'whois' check on a domain name in any of the viable TLDs comes up with NXDOMAIN, that only means a name has not been registered, not that a name will not be registered. Unless you register a name yourself, you are just "squatting". Except if you use one of the TLDs designated as "reserved", as defined in RFC 2606. -- Norman ~Oh Lord, why have you come ~To Konnyu, with the Lion and the Drum |

email from myself
schreef in bericht ... I have several Mail Accounts in Outlook Express. When I am away from home I sometimes send myself an email with data I want to keep when I get home. I notice that on these emails, when I look in Properties, the "From" shows my full name followed by the email address. On other accounts the "From" field only shows the my email address (without the account name). I looked at the mail accounts setup and can find no differences. Why do some account emails show the account name and others just the email address? I need to know because I am trying to create filters to filter out spam seeming to come from me and still let me send myself emails. Jeff |
