inserting a column in a table
Velaine,
I'm assuming that the table heading is contained in merged cells or you wouldn't be asking this question Assuming the column headings and the cells below them are the same width: Make sure formatting marks are displayed -- click the Show/Hide .. button on the Standard toolbar Place the insertion point in the row directly under the table heading row Point to Select on the Table menu and click Row Click Split Table on the Table menu; this will split your table into 2 tables; the 1st will contain only the table heading Add the column as you normally would to the 2nd table Depending on what your AutoFit settings are, you may need to drag the right edge of the 2nd table to line up with the right edge of the 1st table Delete the paragraph mark (a formatting mark) between the 2 tables Jon ---------- "velaine" wrote in message ...
