Outlook stopped linking to Web

Just this morning, my Outlook Express stopped allowing me to use webpate
links that are imbedded in email. For example, Priceline send me a survey
and when cllicking on the link, it will not go to the web. It makes no
difference if my browser (Explorer) is open or not.

I did try to download and use Nexscape this morning, and everytime I opened
it, Windows shut it down. So after the 4th shutdown, I uninstalled Netscape.
I believe that's when it started to not link.

Can anyone help?--

Open Windows Explorer.
Go to Tools | Folder Options | File Types.
Scroll down to [NONE] URL:HyperText Transfer Protocol (NOT URL:Internet
Shortcut) and select it.
Click Edit or Advanced, depending on your Windows version.
Select 'open'.
Click Edit.

"Application used to perform this action" should read:

"C:\PROGRAM FILES\INTERNET EXPLORER\iexplore.exe" -nohome (Check the path to
iexplore.exe to make sure that is correct and use the double quotes.)

DDE should be checked and in the boxes below it you should have:

#1:
"%1",,-1,0,,,,
#2
IExplore
#3 (blank)

#4
WWW_OpenURL

URL:HyperText Transfer Protocol with Privacy should be the same.

Sometimes it is necessary to uncheck Use DDE.

tried to change via Tools. However, unless I must be totally inept, as I
cannot find Folder Options under Tools. My options a

Pop-ups
Manage Add ons
Synchronize
Windowns Update
Windows Messanger
Internet Options------looked here for a folder option and couldn't find.
Also searched in Internet Help, and no folder options were offered. I have
IE 6.0.2900 Service Pack 2. I was also interested in determining why this
happened?

It is in Windows Explorer, not Internet Explorer.

Start | Programs | Accessories | Windows Explorer.

Try clicking Start/Control Panel and look there for the Folder Options icon.
Click it to open you will see the options available.

Oh, my gosh, I am an idiot! Thanks for your patience. Resetting internet
options in IE worked. Kind of wanted to know why this happened, but I'll
settle for having it fixed.

You're welcome. Why it happens is a mystery to me, but it happens often.
Don't feel bad about confusing Windows Explorer and Internet Explorer. Many
do because MS has a habit of naming completely different programs similar,
like Outlook and Outlook Express.

Windows Explorer should just be named *The Place My Files Are In*. wink

i had a similar problem, but it wasn't just with outlook...it was with
any program w/a hotlink (url shortcut). i use firefox, not ie, but
here's what fixed it for me:

In Windows XP, go to "Start - Control Panel - Add/Remove Programs -
Set Program Access and Defaults (on the left) - Custom". After
expanding the "Custom" category, you will see Internet Explorer and
other installed browsers listed under "Choose a default Web browser".
Select Mozilla or Mozilla Firefox.
