Default Spell check in templates

I created a template with fill in fields. The form is locked. Tab between
fields. How do I get spell check to work (2000 version.) It shows up on the
tool menu as grayed out. I even tried saving to a doc name but it was still
grayed out.

If I unlock it is OK but I don't want to have to do that.
thanks.

You are using form fields, not fill-in fields. There is a difference.

From the spelling.grammar FAQ:

4. How can I spell-check protected forms
http://www.mvps.org/word/FAQs/Macros...ProtectDoc.htm

What you are talking about is what Word calls an "online form." Check this
in help. For more about online forms, follow the links at

Chapman's series of articles. You may also want to look at

Hope this helps,
