Missing Saved Messages after ISP Change
I recently changed ISPs from Cox to Suddenlink. I used their setup wizard to
configure Outlook Express 6, but it did not work. I could not send or receive email. Their technicians had me delete all previous Outlook Express mail accounts and reenter them manually to get them to work with Suddenlink. Now I can send and receive email through Suddenlink, but all of my Saved Message that I had in several folders have disappeared. Does anyone know if, and how I can restore them. |

I'm not sure what they had you do. Changing ISPs should not cause you to
lose your messages. Do a search for *.dbx and check Advanced & Include Hidden Files and Folders. If you find your old message store, you might be able to import the messages. In OE: File | Import | Messages. Choose MSOE 6 and then check the radio button to Import from a store directory and point to where the old messages are stored. If you find the lost messages, but the import fails, you may be able to recover them with one of these tools. Thanks Bruce -
I saw a suggestion similar to yours on an earlier post. You may have even made it. I tried the suggestion and found the files, but was unable to import them. I ended up taking the easy way out and did a system restore to last week and Updated the Outlook Express identities and accounts manually instead of deleting them and re-entering them. It seemed to work ok! Thanks again for your timely reply! Larry K "Bruce Hagen" wrote: I'm not sure what they had you do. Changing ISPs should not cause you to lose your messages. System Restore does not backup the OE dbx files.
Restore just put the settings back, so you were accessing the old Message Store. The setup wizard must have created a new Identity. -- Ronald Sommer "Larry K" wrote in message ... : Thanks Bruce - : : I saw a suggestion similar to yours on an earlier post.
