Suppressing margin warnings

Avery template 5160 has side margins set at .19", and closing the margin
dialog generates the margin warning message. However, when the page is
printed, the margin warning does not appear. How is that done? On my
hand-crafted templates, printing generates a warning for every section - a
pain for multi-page docs. How to suppress?

I have always put this down to "Microsoft magic," which is why I advise
people to create custom label definitions rather than custom label templates
based on a Word document.

Hi TedMi,

You can eliminate the warnings by accessing your printer's configuration and changing its minimum margin setting - you may even be
able to set it to 0. You may need the manufatcurer's printer utilities software to do this, since the MS drivers may not give access
to those settings. Note, though, that changing this setting won't necessarily enable greater print covergae on the paper and,
instead of getting the warnings, anything in the non-printing area will simply be cut off.

Yes, I am fully aware that the physical non-printable area cannot be
changed, but the printer driver complains about margins that are NOT outside
the printable area.

Once you've created the custom label definition, of course, there's nothing
to stop you from using New Document to create a sheet of the labels and then
save that as a template.

Hi TedMi,

But if you edit the non-printing area for the printer, via the maker's printer utilities, you can probably set the minimum allowable
margin to as little as 0. Word then won't warn you that the margins are too small.
