Strange Time Stamp
I can't figure this one out. PC time is good, although it doesn't say
DAYLIGHT TIME even when it is checked. But, the time is fine. Problem is in OE6. I receive mail on 2 pcs. One shows the received time fine and the other shows the received time 1 hr. prior to the actual. Time is not even consistent within OE. If I send myself a note, the SENT time is accurate. Yet, when I receive that same note, the RECEIVED time is 1 hr. before it was sent! Where might a setting be off? Thanks. |

Is it the correct time zone?

Yes. Time Zone is correct. The odd thing is same machine shows correct time
on SENT and 1 hr earlier on RECEIVED ?!?!?!? Ron Sommer wrote: Is it the correct time zone? I can't figure this one out. Do you have the latest patches on both machines? The problem one may be
lacking the daylight saving patch and you adjusted for it manually. -- Bruce Hagen MS-MVP Outlook Express Imperial beach, CA "BarbLI" u50768@uwe wrote in message news:93cefbe9c326b@uwe... Yes. I'll go back and check but if that were the case, wouldn't the SENT time also
show incorrectly? If they were both the same, I'd understand. It shows it being received an hour before it was sent.....same machine. Strange Time Stamp
Each mail messages has multiple time stamps. You can see these in File,
Properties, Details. When you look at the list of messages in Microsoft IE3 Internet Mail or IE4+ Outlook Express, the Received time is when the message was received by your ISP's mail server. The server supplies the time. This is the first (top most) of possibly several "Received:" lines in the message header. Each mail server that a message passes through adds its own Received line. These are in reverse order, so that the bottom most one listed is the first server that received the message from the sender. When you open or print a message, the time displayed is from the sender's PC when he wrote the message, not necessarily when he transmitted it (depends on the mail client). The time comes from his PC. This is the "Date:" line in the message header. The time stamps include a time zone code as either an offset from GMT (e.g. -0800) or a character code (e.g. PST). The mail program attempts to adjust displayed times to your local time. If it doesn't recognize a time zone in a time stamp, it treats it as GMT. The mail program recognizes the US time zone codes and GMT. Most others it doesn't. Make sure you have the correct time zone setting on your PC. For Windows look in Control Panel, Date/Time. Due to incorrect clock settings and time zones and improperly formatted time stamps (a number of servers ignore the Internet standards), the displayed times may or may not be accurate. -- Mike - http://pages.prodigy.net/michael_santovec/techhelp.htm "BarbLI" u50768@uwe wrote in message news:93ce94c365028@uwe... Was this ever resolved?
I'm facing the same issue: Web provider clock is correct, computer clock is correct, server time is correct. "Recieved" time in header of email is correct, but recieved time shown in OE6 is 1 hour early. I can see patches for Windows XP and OE2000, but nothing for OE6 and Windows 2000. OE will use the top most Received header as the received time in the
message list. If you open or print a message, it uses the Date header. OE will adjust either of those based on the time zone setting (including daylight saving) in Windows and time zone specified in the received or date header. If format of those header is wrong, that can result in an incorrect displayed time. -- Mike - http://pages.prodigy.net/michael_santovec/techhelp.htm "KennyJ" wrote in message ...
