sending problems

The message could not be sent because the server rejected the sender's e-mail

hi this is the error message i keep getting i'm not sure if i've not set up
OE for out going emails or what i've done.
the messages i send direct from aol out go into my OE sent items but i just
can't seem to send them from OE.
I set in up so i can see all my emails that go through AOL and that seems to
be working ok all my incoming emails go into OE.
i've got Sage Accounts and to send email from that programme it likes to
send them first to OE so i can them send them one. i got in touch with AOL
and they have given me what they said is all a should need to set up OE but
it still seems not to be working.

They said for outgoing emails (SMTP): SMPT.aol.com; Port: 587

then my AOL user name and password

can anyone help me plz

XAOL-USA-MB Authentication failed. none of the authentications methods
supported by your IMAP server (if any) are supported on this computer.

what have i done?

This article is for Outlook, but the settings are the same.
Are you using clear text authentication?
