Default Fomatting frustration with form fields

I also have the problem with the font changing in my form fields. I do use
the "Filling in Form" when I protect the document. It happens after I add a
form field, type a character, add a form field, type a character, etc.
Example: 09/09/2000 or 916-XXX-XXXX. The slashes and dashes are hard coded
characters. One of the form fields will stay the same font as the rest of the
document but the others will change. Help!

See http://support.microsoft.com/kb/828501/en-us ("Incorrect font is applied
after a style is applied to a form field in Word 2007 or in Word 2003").
