I have works 8 installed and the Powerpoint but the spell checker is not
working in OE. Any one have an easy fix for a novice. I would like to use the
checker supplied by the other Microsoft programs and not a stand alone.

thanks

Hi bajabum,

I am afraid you are out of luck with Works, see their website Top Issues,
Works does not install a spellchecker for Outlook Express of MSN Explorer.

The Works version 8 spell checker is not useable in OE. The Works
versions 4 through 6 are useable by OE.

You don't mention the version of PowerPoint. It would have to be the
full PowerPoint and not the free PowerPoint Viewer to have a spell
checker.

As for Office products, OE can use the spell checker for versions 95
through 2003. For version 95 and 97 on WinXP, this seems to be the
common cause:

Spell check not working in XP Outlook Express

Beyond that, see the URL in my signature for links to freeware/shareware
spell checkers that OE can use.

Works comes in two versions, One of the versions (Works Suite?) includes
Word and that spelling checker works in OE. The other, cheaper, version
does not have Word and its spelling checker won't work in OE.

Michael's reply notwithstanding, see
http://www.michaelstevenstech.com/spellcheck.htm

NB: Some user must also place a copy of CSCAPI3T1.DLL in the OE program
folder, typically C:\Program Files\Outlook Express.
