Default activating office

I activated office when I bought it. Today I re-installed
windows and formatted my hard drive. I saved all my
registry files and made a backup of word's settings. Now
how do I reactivate office without using up another
activation, since I already activated it????

Use the phone method.

If all that you did was format and reinstall, it should reactivate over the
internet without a problem. If it is stubborn, just use the phone method.
It'll just take a few minutes. It won't "use up" an activation.
