Default OE Default Reset under WinXP

Since I set up my (fully updated) WinXP desktop machine 2
yrs ago, the OE (both 5.5 & 6) default for "Leave a copy
of messages on server", which I always want to be
checked, is periodically unchecked every few weeks, not
be me. What application (or OE itself, or worm or virus)
would uncheck this default, which I want checked in order
to retrieve email using one of my other machines,
sometimes remotely? My WinME laptop running OE 5.5 has
never reset this default... Would appreciate any
suggestions--Doug

Some others have reported this, but its not clear what could be causing it,
as its not consistent.

Steve, MS KB has no reference to this issue, but I did
find a ref in the Symantic KB, since their anti-virus
product (which I use) interacts with email clients. My
query to Symantic regarding this issue received a
response that was essentially useless. And I haven't
been able to correlate virus def or other Symantic
updates with the resetting of the OE default... Doug

Sounds like Symantec is consistently useless.
