Default Autonumbers...

I have a table with an autonumber field. I routinely delete records from this table and add new ones using code. Is there a way to reset the autonumber to begin again at "1" each time I do this?

Many thanks for your help!

Hi,

My name is Amy Vargo. Thank you for using the Microsoft Access Newsgroups.

I included a link to an article that tells you how to reset an AutoNumber.

812718 How to reset an AutoNumber field value in Access
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=812718

I hope this helps! If you have additional questions on this topic, please
respond back to this posting.

"If you care what value an Autonumber has, then you probably should not be
using an Autonumber"

Joe,

This will do it: compact the database after the delete.
