Picture importing file sizes - Word 2000
I have a simple Word 2000 document which I have imported a scanned picture into.
The file size henze is nearly 26megs. How do I reduce the byte size of pictures to insert into word or convert them once in Word to an appropriate overall file size? |

Much better to convert them BEFORE you import to Word. Open the graphic in a
graphics program (PhotoPaint, PhotoShop, MS PhotoEdit, etc). Do any work you need to on the image quality (contrast, HSB, etc). Set the image to the size you want to end up with in the Word document. Finally set the resolution. (screen display is 96 dpi max; print is typically 100 or 300 dpi). Now save the graphic as gif and as jpg. Compare the sizes and experiment to see which works best in Word (it depends on the type of image). Now import or link to the graphic file. Avoid doing any graphic manipulation at all within Word itself. "Dan" wrote in message ... I have a simple Word 2000 document which I have imported a scanned picture into. Picture importing file sizes - Word 2000
Hi Dan
If you don't have access to the original pictures or the source that the pictures were taken from (i.e. screenshots from software) and therefore can't follow Jezebel's excellent advice you have one other option. Select and cut the picture in Word then Select the Paste Special option from the edit menu. When the Paste Special dialog is displayed, select Picture this will reduce the file size if the docuement drastically. regards Alex -----Original Message----- Much better to convert them BEFORE you import to Word.
