Default Consuming web services from PowerPoint 2007

First question:

Is it frowned upon (not recommended) to attempt to integrate web services
with PowerPoint? I have found countless examples of how this should be done
from Word or Excel, but none for PowerPoint. I figure I can make the code
shown for them work in PowerPoint, but is this just uncommon or unacceptable?

Second question:

Has anyone done this and if so can you recommend a best practice on how to
do this?

Thanks much,
Brian
