Default Where does XP store the .dbx files for backup

On my Win98 machine, my .dbx files are stored in the following directory
C:\WINDOWS\Application
Data\Identities\{9FC2CBE0-60CC-11DB-B841-806F723A0B5D}\Microsoft\Outlook
Express and it is easy for me to back my emails weekly in the event of
another crash.

However, on my Win XP machine, I can't locate a similar directory for
backup of my work emails, which are of even greater importance.

I no longer do complete backups more than once monthly.

Can anyone help me with the paths I should search ? I've done keyword
searches for the words 'Identities' and 'Outlook', and come up dry.

Thanks in Advance, Brad

P.S. Both machines use Outlook Express 6.0.2800, though the XP version is
slightly newer

The Application Data folder is hidden by default in Windows XP.

Go to Control panel and open Folder Options or open My Documents, choose
Tools on the menu bar, then choose Folder Options on it's menu. Either way
opens the Folder Options dialog window. Choose the View tab then tick "Show
hidden files and folders", click OK.

While there you might also want to uncheck "Hide file extension for known
file types"

Tools | Options | Maintenance | Store Folder tells you where. You will have
to enable 'Show hidden files and folders' in Windows Explorer to see them.

To locate message Store.

Open outlook express, choose Tools, on it's menu choose Options, select
Maintenance tab, click Store Folder.

Tap your Tabs key a couple times to highlight the message store location,
Ctrl+c will copy the location to electronic clipboard.

On desktop choose Start, on it's menu choose Run, right click in the Open
box, choose Paste, this will paste the message store location from
electronic clipboard, click OK.

Your message store Outlook Express folder should display.

On it's toolbar click Folders, this will display the folder tree.

Hope this helps,
Ken

May I suggest this tool for daily backup? You don't even need to go into the
message store, but it is always good to know where it is.

This freeware tool backs up everything in OE in seconds. Disregard what is
written in red. That is referring to a different program.
