Items in Sent Folder with attachments
Is there a way to strip attached files from emails in the Sent Folder in
order to reduce the amount of hard drive space the folder takes up ? I'd like to keep the message itself as a record, but not duplicate the storage of the files attached and forwarded. Thanks in Advance, Brad |

Save the message to the Desktop. File | Save as | Desktop | Save. Open it
with Notepad. Highlight and delete the attachment code and drag the message back to a folder in OE. If you do this a lot, this tool does this and more. You might find it worthwhile. I'm not seeing the whole picture on this one. The file I end up opening up
in Wordpad is an '.eml' file. As I use Win98 and OE 6.00, after editing the email and removing what seems to be the code of the attachment, I have no way of dragging the email back to the Sent folder in OE. From what little I know about file types, Sent is a .dbx file. If you are suggesting that I simply store the resulting stripped '.eml' file in a given directory (but not the Sent folder within OE) such as My Documents, then I understand. Otherwise, I'm a bit confused.. "Bruce Hagen" wrote in message ... Save the message to the Desktop. File | Save as | Desktop | Save. Open it with Notepad. - Do a File, Save As to save the message to an *.EML file, or
drag-and-drop the message to a Windows folder - Then edit the file in Notepad or other text editor. For some information on the formatting of attachments, see http://pages.prodigy.net/michael_santovec/decode.htm - Save the file - With OE5+, you can drag-and-drop the message back to an OE folder. With OE4, you must double click the saved file from the Windows File Explorer. It will open in a mail window. You can then select File, Copy to folder (also works with OE5+). - You can then delete the original message. -- Mike - http://pages.prodigy.net/michael_santovec/techhelp.htm "B" wrote in message ... Thanks to both of you for your help, now I've got it.
