Different header on one page?
Hi all!
At work I have a template for writing formal letters. It has the office header on it. The problem is that if someone writes a letter with two pages then the second page also has the header on it. We do not want this. Looking through the official Word help file I find the following:- To set up different headers or footers for odd and even pages — or for a different first page — insert a manual page break in the one-page template, create the headers or footers you want, and then delete the page break. Then create a document based on the template. The headers and footers will appear when the document becomes more than one page. So, ok, I am probably the stupidest person to ever put digit to keyboard. But, I cannot make this work. As instructed I open a new page, then right at the top the first thing I do is insert a manula page break ( Insert/Break - Break Type is Page Break). Then I type in the header and footer for page one. Then I go to page two. I delete the header from page two. Guess what? That deletes the header from page one also. Can anyone see where I am going wrong? As far as I am following the Microsoft Help File instructions. But I'm not getting the headers I want. Any help would be appreciated. Cheers DF-B |

Different header on one page?
Select and cut the current contents of the header.
On the File menu, click Page Setup. In the Page Setup dialog box, click the Layout tab. Make sure that "Different first page" is checked, and click OK. Paste the contents of the clipboard into the first page header. -- Stefan Blom "David F-B" skrev i meddelandet ... Hi all! At work I have a template for writing formal letters. Different header on one page?
Thanks for this.
I set it up as suggested. Unfortunately this comand leavest subsequent page headers and footers blank. I put a page break in to start a second page and it showed header footer as blank. What I'm after is a one page template with header and footer on the first page, but only footers on subsequent pages. Thanks though.
