I am running Excel 2003 and this is my scenario: System-1 is running workbook-1 with data in cell: A1 This data can change from moment to moment either through user input or a VBA back-end. Whatever the case, when this data changes, I need it reflected on System-2 running workbook-2 in cell: B2 in real-time rather than being required to save both workbooks before the change is shown. How would I go about doing this? As far as I know you would need to use NetDDE. It is not for the faint-hearted and I don't know how well it functions on more recent Windows versions (the KnowledgeBase articles seem to go up as far as NT 4.0) I suggest you search the Microsoft knowledgebase for articles on NetDDE (and Excel). One to start with is http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;128491 Whether or not you succeed, do come back and tell us about your experiences. Bill Manville Greets Bill, I was afraid that you were going to say that, I've been all over MS's sight looking for information regarding DDE and I haven't found much of help. Most of their information refers to older versions of Windows, Excel, or both that just don't work for one reason or another. Thanks for the warning about the "faint-hearted" issue, although I'm not too worried about that. At present, I've had no luck with helpful resources on DDE, however if/when I come up with something useful- I'll get back to you. Thanks again, Jesse. |
