Default adjacent cell selected

I am wanting to select two cells in a big table - one under the other.
However, when I drag the mouse down, the adjacent cell to the right is also
selected. I know this has something to do with the cells not aligning
perfectly but I have tried my best to get them perfectly aligned, even at a
500% zoom. I have tried double clicking on column lines, dragging to set
tabs, but it does not go away. please help.

Hi Robin.

try placing the cursor in the lower cell,
hold shift,
and then push the cursor upwards.
