Updating external links
I want to create external links in a bunch of excel files (50-100) to one
central workbook with lookup tables. Is there any tricky way to make the sheets search for the lookup table workbook (such as by name) in the event the file structure changes, i.e. if the file are moved off the network onto a cd. The lookup worksheet would always be kept in the directory with the log files. I know you can go through and check the links in the menu in excel then redirect the missing links to the workbook but would rather not have to do this 50 to 100 times. |

Updating external links
Good news! You don't have to do anything.
If the formula links are all to files in the same directory then Excel will automatically correct them if the source and destination files are all moved to a different directory. Bill Manville MVP - Microsoft Excel, Oxford, England No email replies please - respond to newsgroup |
