Default error message

I edited a form in access, in "design" and when I try to use the form, I get
an error message "you cancelled the last action" and I can't get back in to
re-edit or use the form.

Can you not simply select the form in the Database window (without opening
the form) and click Design to open it in design mode?

You have probably changed the name of a table field in a control source.
The error you are getting (2501) will occur when you try to update a record,
but there is an incorrect field name. there error is a bit misleading, but
it is because Jet can't complete the request and sends a message back to
Access which Access interprets as a cancel.
