How to manually move store location?
Hi,
I have a situation where I need to manually change the Store location for my Outlook Express files. My OS (Win XP Home) crashed on me but I'n still able to access the folders and files on that drive via a second drive on my system. With a working OS on that drive I'm unable to open OE to automatically change the Store location of my identities. Is there a fool-proof way to change the Store locations manually so i can restore all of my OE settings to another drive? Thanks in advance for any help with this. Monty Robison |

How to manually move store location?
Bruce,
Thanks for your reply. As I said in my original message the OS on the drive with all of the settings, files, etc. I want to transfer is damaged and will not boot. I'm only able to see the files and folders on that drive using explorer on my secondary drive that the OS is good on. I'm unable to open OE on the bad drive. Is there a really good tutorial somewhere that you're aware of that explains in detail how to manually (not using Outlook Express) backup and restore all of your Outlook Express settings, address book, etc? Thanks again for your help with this. How to manually move store location?
If you want to backup and restore everything including your settings, you
need to be able to get into the registry. Backing up and Cloning your OE Identities: http://www.insideoe.com/backup/clone.htm If all you need is the messages and can see the old message store folder Right click on the Outlook Express folder, (Message Store), and Send To any place easy for you and copy this to CD or flash. Copy it to the new HDD and remove the Read Only attribute. Open OE: File | Import | Messages. Select Microsoft Outlook Express 6 and Import from an OE6 Store Directory and point to where you saved it. Back up the entire OE folder. If you just back up selected dbx files, you will end up doing a lot of work to get them into the new OE. -- Bruce Hagen MS-MVP [Mail] Imperial Beach, CA "sparky55" wrote in message news Bruce, Thanks for your reply.
