access97 and 2000 on one pc - problem

I installed Access97 upgrade version (we used this version
for Office97 Standard) on Windows XP with Office2000
preinstalled.
During installation I changed path default path to
\Program files\Office\Access97.
Installation run without problems.
Now when I lunch .exe from Access97 it still starts
Access2000.

What's wrong?

I tried to install it not to Office directory it won't...

Although Access 97 and Access 2000 can live on the same computer, there are
issues.

This biggest problem is with the installation order. To be most successful,
it is recommended to install them in the release order, i.e., 97 first and
then 2000. If 2000 is already installed, it is best to do a complete
uninstall of 2000, install 97, and then reinstall 2000.

I have several computers that have Access 97, 2000, 2002, and 2003 on them.
Always installed in this order.

That said, take a look at

Be aware that the "default" version that starts when you double click an mdb
file in Windows Explorer will always be the last installed version. To start
the other versions, you will need to start them from the Start button or
make shortcuts.

Actually the last executed version as each version resets the .mdb
file extension to run that version. Unless you muck with the .srg
files.

of MS Access databases. Detects the version of Access used to create
your MDB, MDE or MDA files and either reports the version number or
starts the appropriate version of MS Access.

is, it always starts the last installed version when double clicking an mdb
from WinExplorer.

Go figure.

Not a clue. Hmm, I wonder if that part of the registry has been
secured from changes by that user profile. Just guessing though.
