Why does the confiuration wizard run every time I start Word 2
I have tried all the solutions above, but nothing helped. I still keep
getting "please wait while windows configures Microsoft Office 2007" It does that every time I start any office application and can take about 5 minutes to complete, but works ok after it finishes. I am running Vista and only have this problem with MS Office. Tom Cooper " wrote: Lloyd, not sure if you're still interested, but today I stumbled across something unusual that may just explain the reason the batch file didn't help you. I normally run Vista with User Account Control (UAC) turned off (no need for explanations I hope!!) but was required to turn it on to install a network printer - crazy Yes, but this is Microsoft's documented answer to a printer that won't install - but anyway, after enabling it I noticed the Office 2007 config screens again !!! I had all the exact errors that I originally had so I disabled UAC again and everything came good. So Lloyd I'm thinking that maybe you had UAC enabled when you tried running the batch file. I would recommend disabling it if this is the case (life will be much more pleasant then anyway) and trying again. I think we can assume that the whole issue is related to UAC and the restrictions if places on permissions... Cheers, Kim |

Tom, you have my sympathy... the only thing I could think of now and
you've probably already covered it, is to ensure you're logged in as an admin when trying the fix and also try the repair function with Office. I'm suprised the fix has had no effect... you did ensure UAC was disabled? Cheers, Kim |

I agree with everyone that MS has made a terrible mistake with all this. My entire experience with Vista and new MS products has been WOW. WOW this doesn't work. WOW that takes a long time. WOW MS really screwed up this time. Lloyd Sheen |

I had removed and reloaded MS Office and that did not fix it. MS Office was
unusable with this problem. No other applications had this problem until I noticed Itunes, which I rarely use had the same problem. I reinstalled the Vista operating system and that did fix the problem. I guess the problem is in the OS, not in MS Office? Tom Cooper |
