someone may have gotten it to install.

No - installation on a 9x-based OS is IMPOSSIBLE. Office 2003 uses features
only found in Windows 2000 (SP3+) Windows XP or Windows 2003. There is
absolutely no way anyone "may have gotten it to install" - it's just not
possible.

Let me guess - you've bought it? Well let this be a lesson on how to read a
box... No store will take back opened software, especially when the
purchaser is at fault.
