Certificate not verified in OE
I recently had to reinstall xp and ever since then I have had this annoying
error message come up when I send out email. The server you are connected to is using a security certificat that could not be verified The certivicat's CN name does not match the passed value. Do you want to continue using this server? I can click yes and the email will go thru but I want to get rid of the message/find out why it's happening. I use gmail thru oe6. I know that this definately happens when I use gmail (from within oe) to send out mail but I'm not sure if it happens when I use my isp mail (from within oe). It's kind of inconsistent too... ie doesn't happen with all mail. I have ie7 and outlook express 6 installed on my winxp home pc sp2 installed with all updates current. My antivirus is uptodate and I scan everyday. I only scan for spyware about once a week/fortnight. But these have come up clean. Prior to the reinstall I had no problems. Can anyone help me please? Thanks so much. Digi |

Check your settings in Tools, Accounts, Mail, Properties, Advanced. Are
you set to use SSL? Check with the mail service to find out if you are supposed to. The error message indicates that there is a problem with the certificate at the mail server for use with SSL. I've had that happen with a mail service. Their certitificate expired (as all do), and the new one wasn't set up right. It took them a while to straighten it out. -- Mike - http://pages.prodigy.net/michael_santovec/techhelp.htm "~digi~" wrote in message ... It never happened before and I had ie7 installed since late last year. The

Double check your settings here.
