Default password administration

I have a homepage with username and password, but when I want to ad a new
name I choose page and edit with sharepoint and sharepoint opens, then I
choose site and administration and permission. then I get an error answer
that I have to use a microsoft explorer web browser, and I cant go any
further. (
And I have a Vista Ultimate 32 bit and explorer 8.0 !!
can anyone help me?
