Default Linking formulas and spreadsheets

I have copy and pasted some spreadsheets across from (file
1) into another file (File 2). There are some formulas in
these copied spreadsheets (now in file 1 and 2)that link
to other spreadsheets within file 1 and these spreadsheets
I dont want to copy to file 2. The formulas are correct
but some data wont display in file 2 unless I have file 1
open also. Please help as I dont want to have to have
file 1 open.

Thanks

Option 1 (if you never need the formulas in file2 to update): edit /
copy ; Edit / paste special / Values

Option 2: rather than having a formula in file2 that references data in
file1 and is too complex to be evaluated with the file closed, compute
the result you want in a cell in file1 and link the cell in file2 to
the cell in file1 (preferably by range name rather than address). The
simple link should be refreshed OK on opening.
