Access 2000 Limited Record
Hi,
I have an application (currently 1300kb file size), built from Access2000. Whenever I add New record, the last (added) ones will be 'gone' (missing from table). Anyone had similar experience ? If the new record is not being added when you enter it in a form and then
close the form, it might be this bug: Losing data when you close a form at: http://allenbrowne.com/bug-01.html If the tables are attached from another db, you may not be attached to the place you believe you are. Try a compact/repair at least, or perhaps this recovery sequence: http://allenbrowne.com/recover.html If you are still stuck tell us if you are actually using Access 2000 (or just an A2000 format mdb), whether the tables are attached, and whether the problem occurs even if you enter directly into the table (not a form or query.) -- Allen Browne - Microsoft MVP. Hi Allen,
Thanks for reminding [:-)], QUOTE: If you are still stuck tell us if you are actually using Access 2000 (or just an A2000 format mdb), whether the tables are attached, and whether the problem occurs even if you enter directly into the table (not a form or query.) Yes, I am using currently Access 2000. not sure if I understand tables are attached ? If you mean are the records link from mutltiple tables? no it is purely from single individual tables. Okay: you have Access 2000. On the problem computer, open Access and go to
Help | About. What service pack (SP) is installed, e.g.: Office 2000 SP3 A linked table has a little shortcut icon on it when you view it on the Tables tab of the Database window. You link a table via File | Get External, or by using the Database Splitter wizard. If you don't know about linked tables, then this is probably not the issue. When you enter a new record, you say it disappears. How are you entering the record? Directly into the table? Or via a form? -- Allen Browne - Microsoft MVP. Hi Allen,
Right Thanks so much for quick response.. Q1. Version Access 2000 9.0.2720 Q2. No linked tables (I guess is when you view database view where you can see all tables right?) No Splitter, or Linked table of that sort is being used, its a pretty simple application, even interface is pretty plain. Q3. Data input via form.. Access 2000 Limited Record
RUN (don't walk) to:
http://support.microsoft.com/sp and download Service Pack 3 for Office 2000 (under Office Proucts) *and* Microsoft Jet 4.0 Database (under Developer Tools.) You desparately need this SP. SP1 for Office 2000 fixed more than 200 bugs in Access alone, and there's more fixes in SP2 and SP3. Similarly anything less the SP8 for JET is just tempting fate to destroy your database. If your database means anything to you, I can't stress these 2 updates enough. We'll talk more about the form if the problem still occurs after installing these updates. -- Allen Browne - Microsoft MVP.
