When Word 2003 user tries to open a Word document that's currently being
edited by myself, it says "XYZ.doc is locked for editing by 'InforMed Direct User'. Do you want to..." That "InforMed Direct User" is the name used when the operating system was installed and when Office 2007 was installed. Previous versions of Word used to use the user credentials defined in Word so it should say "XYZ.doc is locked for editing by Fred Bloggs'" What gives? Thanks, Rob. PS. And where is the about window in Word 2007 or any of the Office 2007 applications for that matter. I'm sure it's somewhere obvious in this new "improved" interface but I'd damned if I could find it... |

How to change the company name and user name in:
So we need to write some kind of script that changes the company name in the registry each time Word is run so that the "In use" message has the right user's name against it? I think not grin Besides, we use Citrix/TS and that key is in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE so it would change every user who has logged on. Cheers, Rob. |

Sorry, I should have known about the Citrix/TS thing, but my crystal
ball is in the shop today. For accuracy sake, the Office 2007 user name is stored in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\Common \UserInfo.
