Outlook 2007 connect problem in Windows 7
From my earlier chat (who sent me to this group..). Help!!
Anders: I have an Exchange 2007 server (running on Windows 2008 server). Access from Outlook 2007 works fine in both Vista and XP. Now I have installed Windows 7 on one workstation. When Outlook 2007 setup tries to connect to Exchange I get the following message: ”The connection to Microsoft Exchange is unavailable. Outlook must be online or connected to complete this action.” Have checked both user and the Exchange server address. Seems ok. Any suggestion where to find help? Got the same result with the Windows 7 beta. Thanks in advance! Mike: Hello Anders and welcome to the TechNet Online Concierge. How may I assist you today? Anders: Hi Mike! My question above.. Mike: Let me review your question. Mike: One moment please. Anders: ok Mike: Can the user login with OWA in Windows 7? Anders: Yes, it works. Anders: Also, the it dosen't seems to matter if the Win 7 computer is in the domain or not.. Mike: Did Outlook prompt to ask for credential? Anders: No, not by default. I changed it under advanced option to ask for credantials and then it asked but it didn't make any difference... Mike: Could you send me a screenshot to ? Anders: yes, just a moment.. Mike: Did you send it? Anders: Sorry, the computer is not here. Will remotetly control it when my collegue has turned it on.. Mike: So you didn't join that workstation into domain, right? Anders: I tried both outside and within the domain. Same result.. Mike: I would like to confirm the following information. Whether you can resolve the FQDN of the Exchange Server from the client by using Ping command? Did this issue occur when accessing in OWA? Whether any error message comes up in Event log? Can you configure others user account in Outlook? Mike: Are you there with me? Anders: Can't reach the remote computer for some stupid reason. FQDN works. Will check OWA and event log and e-mail result back to you at lunch time (will go to the other workstation then). Can't configure other accounts either.. Anders: Any special part of the Event log to check for events? Mike: Any event source related to Outlook? Anders: ok Mike: Warning or error Anders: Can't find any warnings or errors... |
