how to import Vista pst files into outlook 2000
Before leaving my last job I exported all of my Outlook Contacts/Calender and
Notes into separate pst files on a usb stick. My work computer was running Windows Vista and the most recent Outlook. My home computer is running Windows XP with an earlier verison of Outlook - 2000 I think I have tried to import my contacts etc into Outlook on my home PC. My home computer is running Windows XP with an earlier verison of Outlook - 2000 I think. I have received the error message: "Properties for this service must be defined..." then was told the .pst file in not compatible. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated as to how I can imprt the pst files or even unlock the info in the pst so I can read it. I dont want to go to the expense of installing Vista or an updated version of Outlook no my home machine as I dont use it that often and its a fairly slow laptop already! many thanks, |

This has nothing to do with Vista. It has everything to do with not
transferring your data correctly. One of the many reasons you never use export and import for that purpose is that you have no ability to control the format of the PST file. Accordingly, you created a PST file that is incompatible with older versions like Outlook 2000. You will have to use a newer version of Outlook (2003 or 2007) to access this file. Then you create a new PST file in "Outlook 97-2002" format and copy your data into that file. That file can then be opened in an older version. Never touch export and import again if you value your data. -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "Barry37" wrote in message ...
