Outlook 2007, Windows LiveMail and international travel
Greetings
Please help! I am so confused. I would like help and advice regarding how to configure Office Outlook 2007 with Business Contact Manager and to use it effectively - and hopefully easily. I list my queries for clarity and ease of understanding and so that I can follow the advice given for each point - I really do not have a clue about Outlook 2007! I need Outlook 2007 to be able to use Samsung PC Studio 3 to be able to sync my laptop and mobile phone. 1 I downloaded Office Professional 2007 which should include Office Outlook 2007 with Business Contact Manager, but it is showing on my Start Menu as only Office Outlook 2007. Is this a fault or will the Business Contact Manager be present once I configure? 2 My current ISP Caribsurf, offers an email account. Do I have to use this for configuration or can I use my Windows LiveMail account details? 3 If I have to use the ISP email account, can I change it and make Windows Live Mail my default email programme? 4 If Outlook has to be my default account, can I export addresses, emails etc to my other email accounts? 5 I read that secureserver.net can be used for configuration and as I will be travelling extensively - Africa, West Indies, Europe and America - is this setting suitable for my requirements? 6 Are there any settings that I can use on configuration that can remain unchanged when I am travelling? 7 I have unpaid Yahoo and Hotmail accounts - is there anyway to sync them all? 8 Will wireless connection impact on Outlook's performance? 9 Do I need any other additional programmes to enable Outlook to meet my needs? I realise that I have asked a lot of questions, some of which may interconnect, as I said I have no clue about Outlook! -- Thanks for the time you have taken to read this and thanks for any responses that assist me (and others) Enjoy your day. Peace and Love Ms Q-reeus -- Thanks for the time you have taken to read this and thanks for any responses that assist me (and others) Enjoy your day. Peace and Love Ms Q-reeus |

... 1 I downloaded Office Professional 2007 which should include Office Outlook 2007 with Business Contact Manager, but it is showing on my Start Menu as only Office Outlook 2007. Is this a fault or will the Business Contact Manager be present once I configure? Did you install BCM? It's an optional install. 2 My current ISP Caribsurf, offers an email account. Do I have to use this for configuration or can I use my Windows LiveMail account details? Use them both, if you wish. 3 If I have to use the ISP email account, can I change it and make Windows Live Mail my default email programme? If you wish. 4 If Outlook has to be my default account, can I export addresses, emails etc to my other email accounts? Outlook cannot _be_ a "default account". It is a mail client, not an account. You can specify any of your configured accounts in Outlook as the default account. This will be the account whose address gets used on a new mail message if you don't specifically choose a sending account. Outlook will always reply to a message using the account which receives the original message. 5 I read that secureserver.net can be used for configuration and as I will be travelling extensively - Africa, West Indies, Europe and America - is this setting suitable for my requirements? Only you can say whether or not it's suitable for your needs. Google Mail is a choice used by many. I'm not familiar with the SecureServer features. Trying to link to secureserver.net, for me, produces "This sight is not currently available." 6 Are there any settings that I can use on configuration that can remain unchanged when I am travelling? Most. It depends on what you're trying to do, though. 7 I have unpaid Yahoo and Hotmail accounts - is there anyway to sync them all? The Hotmail accounts, probably. The unpaid Yahoo accounts, not without Ypops (http://ypopsemail.com/) 8 Will wireless connection impact on Outlook's performance? Outlook doesn't know or care how you have connected. Performance of your network connection will bepend on the network infrastructure. 9 Do I need any other additional programmes to enable Outlook to meet my needs? Depends on whether or not you've stated them all. -- Brian Tillman [MVP-Outlook] |
