Default Data point labels in a scatter diagram

My Y axis is from my "Units" column and my X axis is from my "Revenue"
column. How do I get a third column like "Company Name" to appear as the
labels for the data points in my scatter diagram?

Right click your plot area, choose Source Data, on Series tab in the box with
series names highlight the series you want, to the right of it there is an
option to choose your cell containing the name, repeat this for both of your
series, then right click on the series in your chart, choose Format Series,
on Data Labels tab check Series Name check box.

Good Luck,
Larissa

Thanks, Larissa, but I don't see the Series Name check box. Is that an
option in Excel 2000? I should have mentioned what version I'm using.

I am using 2003
But, you can still just right click your series, ask to show either one
value or category name, they will appear in text boxes next to your points on
the chart, you can actually edit contents in the text boxes any way you want.
Try this see if it works in 2000

Still doesn't work. I can choose to show either the value or the label,
which shows either my X or Y axis. I don't think Excel 2000 can do it
without an add-in or macro.

Thanks,
Scott

If you are using an XY chart, XYChartlabeler is an excellent add-in that
does exactly what you want.

John Walkenbach also has an excellent labeler in his chat tools add-in.

The options Larissa is talking about were introduced in Excel XP (2002).
The add-ins Kelly mentioned work in Excel 97 through 2003 (and they are as
good as she claims).

I can't see where Larissa actually mentions an add-in. I did find a post
from back on December with a macro that worked well. Do you know the name of
the add-in that does this?

Thanks, Jon.

Thanks, Kelly. Unforatunately, this is a work computer and locked down so
that we can't install any software.
