Default Office 97 Pro Upgrade - Install on new computer

Folks,

I have had Office 97 Pro (an upgrade from Office 95) on my laptop for years!
This week, the computer died and I bought a new desktop instead. I tried to
reinstall Office 97 and I am informed that the software that qualifies me for
the upgrade is not on my computer. That is sort of right. I have Corel Word
Perfect, and MS Works on my new computer, either of which should quailfy, but
they are newer versions that didn't even exist when the Office 97 came out.

What can I do to get it installed. It is just what I need, I am used to it,
and I don't want to feel like I am throwing away the $300 I paid for it.

Thanks everyone,

John

The qualifying product was the old version of Office, not Word Perfect, not
Works. When it asks for the qualifying product you will need to insert the
disk from Office 95. Now if over the years you've misplaced that disk,
there's nothing you can do. Well, actually there is - spend the money and
get the current version of Office instead of an 8 year old version.

I can't seem to locate the KB article for Office 97 qualifying
products, since it's no longer supported by Microsoft, but I was able
to find the list. Your best bet is to dig through all of your old
software and see if you have any of the products on the following
list. If you do, then when prompted for your qualifying product insert
the first disk (provided you still have a floppy drive! g)
