Office 97 Pro Upgrade - Install on new computer
Folks,
I have had Office 97 Pro (an upgrade from Office 95) on my laptop for years! This week, the computer died and I bought a new desktop instead. I tried to reinstall Office 97 and I am informed that the software that qualifies me for the upgrade is not on my computer. That is sort of right. I have Corel Word Perfect, and MS Works on my new computer, either of which should quailfy, but they are newer versions that didn't even exist when the Office 97 came out. What can I do to get it installed. It is just what I need, I am used to it, and I don't want to feel like I am throwing away the $300 I paid for it. -- Thanks everyone, John |

The qualifying product was the old version of Office, not Word Perfect, not
Works. When it asks for the qualifying product you will need to insert the disk from Office 95. Now if over the years you've misplaced that disk, there's nothing you can do. Well, actually there is - spend the money and get the current version of Office instead of an 8 year old version. -- JoAnn Paules MVP Microsoft [Publisher] "John" wrote in message ... I can't seem to locate the KB article for Office 97 qualifying
products, since it's no longer supported by Microsoft, but I was able to find the list. Your best bet is to dig through all of your old software and see if you have any of the products on the following list. If you do, then when prompted for your qualifying product insert the first disk (provided you still have a floppy drive! g) Qualifying products for Office 97 Upgrade (versions "or later" would be versions prior to the relase of Office 97) Aldus Persuasion for Windows 2.0 or later Ami Pro for Windows 1.0 or later ASAP 1.0 or later ASAP WordPower 1.0 or later Borland dBASE for MS-DOS 5.0 Borland dBASE for Windows 5.0 Borland dBASE IV for MS-DOS 1.0 or later Borland Office for Windows 2.0 Borland Paradox for MS-DOS 4.5 or later Borland Paradox for Windows 1.0 or later Borland Quattro Pro for MS-DOS 1.0 or later Borland Quattro Pro for Windows 1.0 or later Borland Quattro Pro Special Edition 1.0 Claris FileMaker Pro for Windows 2.0 or later Corel WordPerfect Suite 7.0 Dataease for Windows 5.0 Harvard Graphics for MS-DOS 2.3 or later Harvard Graphics for Windows 1.0 or later Lotus 1-2-3 for MS-DOS 2.01 or later Lotus 1-2-3 for Windows 1.0 or later Lotus Approach for Windows 1.0 or later Lotus Approach for Windows 95 96 Lotus Freelance for MS-DOS 4.0 Lotus Freelance for Windows 1.0 or later Lotus Freelance Graphics for Windows 96 Lotus SmartSuite 2.0 or later Lotus SmartSuite 96 for Windows 96 Lotus Word Pro for Windows 96 Microsoft Access for Windows 1.0 or later Microsoft Excel for Windows all versions for Windows and/or Windows NT Microsoft Exchange for Windows 4.0 Microsoft FoxPro for MS-DOS 2.0 or later Microsoft FoxPro for Windows 2.5 or later Microsoft Mail for Windows 3.2 Microsoft Multiplan all versions for MS-DOS Microsoft Office for Windows all versions for Windows and/or Windows NT Microsoft PowerPoint for Windows 2.0 or later Microsoft Project 1.0 or later Microsoft Schedule+ for Windows 7.0 Microsoft Visual FoxPro for Windows 3.0 Microsoft Word for MS-DOS 2.0 or later Microsoft Word for Windows all versions for Windows and/or Windows NT Microsoft Works for Windows all versions for Windows Novell Perfect Office 3.0 or later Personal Oracle for Windows 7.0 PowerBuilder for Windows 5.0 Superbase 4 for Windows 1.2 or later Superbase 95 for Windows 3.0 SuperCalc for MS-DOS 3.1 or later Symantec Q&A for MS-DOS 4.0 Symantec Q&A for Windows 4.0 WordPerfect for MS-DOS 4.0 or later WordPerfect for Windows 5.1 or later WordPerfect Presentations 2.0 or later WordStar 2000 for MS-DOS 3.0 or later WordStar for MS-DOS 1.0 or later WordStar for Windows 1.0 or later WordStar Pro for MS-DOS 1.0 or later Please post all follow-up questions to the newsgroup.
