I get the above prompt every time I start office 2007. Its a pain just
installed a brand new office 2007 from the CD. I had one trial version
installed in my laptop previously came preinstalled but expired after 60

You have to Uninstall any Trial together with the Activation Assistant, via
Add/Remove dialogue, then reboot, prior to installing any paid for version

Did you Uninstall the Trial Version before installing from the CD?
