What protocol you use to connect to the mail server depends on the mail
service. Many support only a single protocol. Some support two and you
can choose.

What mail service do you use?

Your mail service can provide configuration instructions.

First, see this page:

Now see this page:

Tip: You will have to create a new Hotmail account in OE for POP3 access.
You CANNOT edit or change your old Hotmail account's settings.

If you have more questions, first see this FAQ:
http://windowslivehelp.com/solutions...questions.aspx

PS: I'm pretty sure I replied to a post you made in Hotmail Community
forums.
