how do you create a Pareto Chart

I'm having a lot of difficulty in constructing a Pareto Chart. I don't understand what the bin range is. If you're referring to the Histogram tool of Excel's Analysis ToolPak, the data in the Input Range must be numerical values on the worksheet, and the Bin Range must be numerical values on the worksheet in ascending order that specify the upper limit of each interval for the frequency distribution. The Pareto option sorts the intervals according to frequencies. This option of the Histogram tool does not create a typical Pareto chart. The usual Pareto chart shows frequencies for text labels, not numerical values. The Histogram tool is not useful for preparing a standard Pareto chart. Instead, if your raw data are a list of text labels on the worksheet, use a Pivot Chart to obtain the frequencies, and use a Column chart type to prepare the Pareto chart. - Mike www.mikemiddleton.com |

thank you.
This helped me a lot. I was able to finally get it to work. Katie "Michael R Middleton" wrote: ktdu4 - I'm having a lot of difficulty in constructing a Pareto Chart.
