Default Losing data when saving as a dBASE file

Even though data (the cell in question is a zip field that I have formatted
to display the leading zero) is displayed in cells of my active worksheet,
when I save as a dBASE file the leading zero of my zip codes that have
leading zeros is missing in the resulting dBASE file. Any suggestions or work
arounds, thanks in advance.

The only thing that comes immediately to mind is to enter your zip codes as
text values. DBF files don't preserve number formatting (that I know of)
when saving from Excel.
