Default can't add midi to OE

To add a midi to an email, I could always go to Format\Background\Sound &
always worked. Now it doesn't. I checked the Up-dates & the only one I can
see for OE is KB923694 which I took off after they first installed it.

Anyone have any reasons as to why I can't add a midi? Any help appreciated.

Why did you remove KB923694? From your headers:

X-MimeOLE: Produced By Microsoft MimeOLE V6.00.2900.2670

You have three updates not installed that affect OE. Please install them.

Then check in Tools | Options | Send | HTML Settings and make sure Send
pictures with messages is checked.

If I leave that update on, when I go to forward anything, I have lost the
status bar across the bottom. I need that status bar for my stationery

I went to Tools\Options\Send\HTML settings & it already checked to send
pictures with messages.. I just can't add a midi to email unless it is in my
stationery template.

I would worry about the condition of your computer, particularly OE and then
worry about the MIDI.

If you download /all/ updates, what happens when you click Forward then
View? Did you check to see if the Status Bar was still checked? If it is
checked and you don't see it, then you have corruption in OE.

You may have a damaged identity especially if it is the default Main
Identity. File | Identity | Add New Identity. Create a new one and test it.
If all is well, you can import your messages and Address Book from the old
identity and delete it.

What happens when I try to add music? No error message but no music either.?
I am going to check my laptop to see if this happens on it as well & I don't
have that update on any of the 4 machines here.

If you go to Format | Background Sound then you should be able to browse
anywhere to choose the mid file. Then, when you send it, its possible what
is happening is the volume is getting set very low (-9000) so the midi is
not heard. So do a CTRL-F2 on a message and check the volume setting under
the BGSOUND tag. If its negative, its based upon some sound device
volume being set very low, so check in Control panel | Sounds if that is the
problem.

You can also go to View | Source Edit when composing and change the volume
in the Source window.

Thanks Steve,

It was on a piece I did a copy\paste, did what you suggested & it worked.
Glad to know it wasn't because of the update I refuse to put on all my
machines. Not only did it mess with my stationery, but with that update, my
daughter couldn't even compose a new message so she hasn't got it on her
brand new Dell (XP PRO) either :-)

Thanks also for the CTRL-F2 tip
.....Sandy (seaweed)
