Default Moving OE6 from Dying Hard Drive to new one.

I need some help in moving or copying OE6 from my old hard drive to my new
one.

My old hard drive appears to be dying so I have obtained a new one. The new
drive is installed and formatted and XP is installed on it. The old drive
still works - sort of - but it was keeping me from booting up properly (it
kept freezing solid before I got to my desktop) so I was not able to make a
proper backup of my address book or old emails.

Now I want to bring my old address book, emails, and newsgroup accounts from
the old drive onto the new drive. Can anyone give me a basic idea of what I
need to do? I'm not sure if I want to try to copy the old OE6 instance over
top of the the new OE6 instance or if I want to try to merge the two
somehow.

Also, what techniques do I use and where are they documented?

I've only got a few days of stuff in the OE6 instance on the new drive so I
can live with losing all of that if it comes to it; however, it would be
even better if I could save it in some way and then merge it back in with
the old OE6 instance.

I've tried using the Microsoft Knowledge Base but ran into troubles right
from the start. For instance, one article I found,
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/188854/, said that I could find my old
address book in a file called userid.WAB. I searched for this and finally
found two copies of it on my E: drive (which was formerly my D: drive) but
the date is 12/03/2006, which is either early December or mid-March, and it
is in a directory called Backups so I assume this is NOT the "current"
version of my address book in the old instance of OE. I couldn't find _any_
..WAB files in my D: drive (which was formerly my C: drive.) So, as you can
see, I am having troubles right out of the box.

For all I know, I've got some bad sectors in my D: drive (my former C:
drive) and the address book has been lost. I really don't know.

I also tried looking for local folders and only found a tiny handful of the
folders I had before. I used to have dozens of mail folders, some containing
irreplaceable emails that I really don't want to lose.

I'd really appreciate some assistance with this problem, particularly
articles describing how to handle this situation.
