Default pass some parameters exe url

I'm trying to send email which contains in its body some executable link to
some web page. For instance -
http://www.microsoft.com/someexe.exe

This works without problems.
Is it possible to pass also some parameters to this exe in the email body
and expect the exe to use the paramters? something like
http://www.microsoft.com/someexe.exe param1 param2

Thanks in advance

David

I don't think so directly. When the person gets the link and clicks it,
they should get a dialog with a Save or Run option.

You could perhaps have the link point to a script that would in turn run
the EXE with parameters. But I'm not sure if it would have problems
downloading the program.

This would best to handled in the browser newsgroup since it's really
the browser processing the link.

Use the following newsgroup for questions or problems with IE6
news://msnews.microsoft.com/microsof...er.ie6.browser

You can also get to the Internet Explorer newsgroups via this web site:
http://www.microsoft.com/communities...s/default.mspx
There select Internet Explorer

If you are using a webbased system, then you can add a query string to the
URL to provide parameters.

Most email programs will block an exe from executing automatically,
especially OE, which is by default in the Restricted zone. Its not a really
safe means to distribute or invoke software programs.

I'm talking about using Active Server pages on the website and letting it
process the information. It depends on what is configured on the webserver
and you would have to be able to control that. You might also consider
employing ActiveX controls (search Google) such as the way Flash handles
things.

Thanks steve,

1. When you say using webbased system do you mean me as a sender or the
recipient application (or both).

2. Can you direct me to an example of such implementation. I'm really new
to this stuff.

Thanks again
