Default Visio 2002 Modify Existing Text Problem

When I create a new Diagram or any new document, I have a problem with
existing text. I insert a new shape into the diagram and insert text. When I
double-click the shape to edit the existing text, it highlights the text.
Normally it would highlight the text and you can still see the text. In this
instance it hides the text. Once I single-click the highlighted text, the
text disappears, but the text still exists, just looks like its whited-out. I
can tell because the cursor is flashing on where I clicked in the middle of
the text. Once I begin to enter in text, the text will reappear.

This is on a clean installation of Visio 2002 standard installation.

Any suggestions?
