Please do not post multiple times, it makes it confusing for people trying to
provide help on knowing what has already been suggested.

Because an "update" actually goes through and refreshes all the cells, there
is no simple way of tagging cells with colors. However, you could set it up
(with a macro or manually) so that before update commences, a backup file is
created. Then, have a formula sheet compare new sheet to backup sheet. You
could set it up so that it only displays new data like

=If([Book1.xls]Sheet1!A1[Book1Backup.xls]Sheet1!A1,[Book1.xls]Sheet1!A1,"")
