Default Are headings and levels the same thing?

Hi all, I am trying to create "levels" as Word XP calls them, but I only
have Word 2000 (SP 3). Can you tell me if using the promote/demote buttons
are the same as setting a "level". If not, is there any way to create a
level in W2000?

Thanks!

Default Sorry, Never Mind: Are headings and levels the same thing?

I think I have solved my own problem by stumbling upon the paragraph
settings, but I did notice that the Level was greyed out. What would cause
that?

It is greyed out for the built-in Heading styles, which are fixed to the
matching outline levels.
