Default Setting Report Column Width

Basic, but I don't find it: how to set column width in an Access
report. I have double-clicked on columns in the base table to make
them narrowest and have tried using Design View. Pulling lines in
Design View cuts off heading names but doesn't narrow basic column
width. Also can't see the actual entries to set a width against the
entries. Autoformat (even "customize") gives limited option. I've
also had the box checked when using the wizard to have text on one
page. Seems like this should be simple like narrowing Access and
Excel column tables.

You select controls and then either drag them around or grab the "handles"
to resize them.

Still not there. Could you describe steps precisely, starting with
e.g. go to Design View (if that's where I start)? I've read Help on
"Controls" and end up at the toolbox with lots of choices, none of
which seems right. When I simply grab handles on items in Design
View, that just cuts off the headings without changing width between
columns. And, I don't see the row entries to adjust width even if I
knew how.

First you suggest that you have trouble "go to Design View" and then later
you suggest you are in design view. Open Help and type in "how do I resize
controls".
