Merge fields and Data (Both) show in merge results
After installing Office 2003, when I merge a document, the
merged results show BOTH the merge fields e.g. Customer name and merged data (Joe Schmoe). In order to change the document to show ONLY the merged data in the merge field locations, I have to right click and "Accept all changes" How do I change Word or the merge document to just display the simple, clean, merged document? |

This apparently has something to do with Word's "Track Changes" feature, and a (temporary) workaround is to go into the Track changes menu function and "Accept Changes" - except that SOME users are prevented from getting to the "accept changes" functionality - and (in the long term), having to do this function is bothersome and inefficient. This change in response ---seems--- to have occurred in general chronology with the installation of Office 2003 (Word 2003), though Word 2000 is still installed and does the same thing. Gary |

This happens if you have Track Changes turned on when you execute the merge.

That works for ONE instance of working with the document;
is there a way to get Track Changes / Final Showing markup to ALWAYS be off, either for an individual document or for Word altogether? We've tried moving to FINAL / or changing Tracking changes, and saving the document, to no avail. The whole tracking changes function is giving us fits.
