Default how to reinstall and reestablish Outlook

Believe it or not, this is a thumbnail version!
Vista Home Premium, Office 2007
I was hearing a mysterious click. After a few sporadic clicks, all my open
windows, desktop, everything would freeze, and I would have to force the
power down and power up.
Start Windows normally.
(The click was faintly reminiscent of the noise when engaging a floppy or CD
drive.)
About every other time it would offer the (auto) 32-part file checking
operation. I consented.
I ran disk checking programs which found no hardware errors, which I had
suspected.
After about two or three days of this, Outlook failed to start.
I got a message that my files were damaged (my word) and to run scanpst.exe
to repair inbox.
This file was not where it was supposed to be, but I was able to find it on
a backup drive and get it to run. After several tries, it indicated that
there were no errors.

When I next attempted to open Outlook, I got the error message that “there
is no default mail client or the current mail client cannot fulfill the
messaging request. Please run MS Outlook and set it as the default mail
client.”

I hesitate to do this, as I had to make alternate arrangements for my mail,
and used the web mail from my ISP, Cox. I do not want to lose the
rudimentary files I have kept on Cox webmail. ( I am unable to find these pst
files.)

When I try to click into Outlook after starting it, I get the error message:
“The file ExSec32.dll is incompatible with Microsoft Office Outlook. Install
Outlook again.” Outlook then shuts down and restarts.
When I click into something in a menu within Outlook, I get the error
message: “not implemented”.

How can I uninstall and reinstall Outlook without losing ANY pst files?
Also, I got Office 2007 last year when I was taking classes, through my
school vis Digital River, so I do not have a disk. I made notes of my keys,
but no source program.
I suppose I should mention that my pst files are MONSTROUSLY huge, but I
need them!
Can any Outlook MVP help me?

Default how to reinstall and reestablish Outlook

Clicks are often associated with a hd failure, imminent or pending.
I'd suggest you ran the disk checking utility available on your hd makers
web site.

Uninstalling Outlook does not impact on data files, that being said its
unlikely to cure any problem that Office Diagnostics wont cure, niether
would it have any impact on the outlook profile

And in any case your data is backed up?
