Outlook 2003 Not Sending/Receiving Messages
Outlook is not sending the messages in my outbox, or receiving new messages.
When I hit 'send/receive', the progress box appears, but no progress is made. It just sits there in haze. No error messages, either. Initially, I noticed that when it sends/receives messages, the received messages came in fine, but the sent ones didn't send. About the time I noticed this was happening, I also noticed that Outlook was not synchronizing when I started my computer, which it always did previously. A few minutes later, it would no longer receive messages either. Have been using Outlook 2003 on a new PC actively for a couple of months, and used Outlook Express before then on my old PC. It is linked to my Comcast email account and has worked fine until today. Running XP home, service pack 2. Would appreciate any advice. Thanks, Chris |

Outlook 2003 Not Sending/Receiving Messages
I have a rather similar problem.
We run Outlook 2003 on XP Professional workstations on a Windows 2003 server network, without Exchange, just standard POP3 accounts. Email adresses are set up for users on our domain, .pst files are located on each user's personal drive on the server. We have a recurring problem where send/receive appears to operate, slowly, but messages remain in the outbox. At the other end, recipients are receiving multiple copies of the emails. The problem occurs mainly, but not exclusively, with messages containing attachments. The account settings test works fine - test messages are both sent and received normally. Any clues as to how to fix would be greatly appreciated. "opieandy" wrote: Outlook is not sending the messages in my outbox, or receiving new messages. Outlook 2003 Not Sending/Receiving Messages
Just wanted to post that I solved my problem with the classic re-boot
solution and it works fine now. That is, after spending 30 minutes on the phone with Comcast (28 of that on hold, after I had spoken to 2 people and asked for a supervisor, which apparently wasn't going to happen, so now I need to report the person who left me in limbo), who claimed they don't "support" Outlook 2003. Funny, they sure do have plenty of instructions on their website as to how one can link Outlook 2003 to their Comcast email account. If I may continue to rant for a moment, Microsoft should be the one providing lots of technical support, since their products affect 99% of what goes on with my computer, and it's extremely frustrating anytime you have two vendors' programs that could potentially impact an issue, because both want to point the finger at the other. 95% of the time, the issue has been with Microsoft's products, but I would have to pay a fee to speak to someone there. Thanks for listening. Chris "wanderingbursar" wrote: I have a rather similar problem. Outlook 2003 Not Sending/Receiving Messages
I am also having trouble with Comcast and Outlook 2003 (Windows XP) but have
not been able to resolve it. I connect through a LAN, my PDA connects through and receives email without a hitch (Versamail) but I cannot get Outlook to send or receive. The Outlook error when running "test account settings" is that the server is located but won't respond. Also it seems to open and leave Word running/not responding even though you can't see it on the Window Task Manager; and causes the Microsoft printer spooler to keep trying incessantly to connect to the internet. Could you please tell me how you were able to get Comcast set up? Thanks. "opieandy" wrote: Just wanted to post that I solved my problem with the classic re-boot solution and it works fine now.
